Herkimer BOCES recognizes CTE students who
volunteered as tour guides for eighth-graders

8 to Great tour guides



The Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES School To Careers program on Thursday, April 21, honored students from Herkimer BOCES career and technical education programs who served as tour guides during the Journey from 8 to Great program.

More than 600 eighth-graders from Herkimer BOCES component districts and the Pathways Academy at Remington visited Herkimer BOCES CTE classes this school year through 8 to Great. The program aims to introduce students to CTE courses at Herkimer BOCES and get them thinking about career options.

The reception for the tour guides included food and beverages, and STC liaison MaryBeth Napolitano thanked the students and gave them certificates.

Some of the tour guides posed for a photograph, pictured above, from left to right, front row: Scott Phillips, of culinary and hospitality; Nicole Bommarito, of culinary and hospitality; Dominique McCumber, of criminal justice; Alysha Henrickson, of health science careers, and Amber Bala, of health science careers.
