Little Falls selects finalists in superintendent search
Nov. 19, 2015

The search for the next Little Falls City School District superintendent has been narrowed to two finalists, who will participate in full-day interviews on Monday, Nov. 23, at the district.

The finalists selected by the Board of Education are:
  • Frank Ferraro, former superintendent of Kearney Schools in New Jersey, who has a certificate of advanced study in educational administration from the College of Saint Rose.

  • Keith Levatino, principal of Perry Junior High School in New Hartford, who has a doctorate in educational administration/teacher leadership from Walden University.

The full-day interviews on Monday, Nov. 23, will include meetings with various constituent groups including students, teachers, support staff and administrators and supervisors, as well as a tour.

Their interviews will conclude with a public forum from 6-8 p.m. at the elementary auditorium at Benton Hall Academy, where community members will be able to ask the candidates questions.

“The board was pleased to have had a quality pool of candidates and is very interested in the school and community’s impression of these finalists,” Little Falls Board of Education President William Dodge said.

Longtime Little Falls Superintendent Louis Patrei announced last school year his intentions to retire, and his last day was Aug. 14. Since then, Nick Fazio, who has served as an interim superintendent at other local school districts, has been the Little Falls interim superintendent.

The Little Falls Board of Education contracted with Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent Mark Vivacqua to lead the superintendent search and conduct screening interviews with candidates.

Throughout the last month, the Little Falls City School District Board of Education has been engaged in interviewing and reviewing credentials of candidates who responded to the call for applications by the Oct. 31 deadline. The Board of Education selected the two finalists on November 18.

The school board expects to decide on the next superintendent by Dec. 1, with an anticipated start date in early 2016.
