Students inducted into the National Technical Honor Society
Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society on Feb. 28 at Herkimer BOCES. HERKIMER – Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES recently welcomed 10 students as the 2017 inductees to the National Technical Honor Society.

The ceremony took place on Feb. 28 in the lobby at the Herkimer BOCES William E. Busacker Complex.
The 2017 National Technical Honor Society inductees were:

Automotive technology student:
  • Jonathan Coons, of Mount Markham.

Child and family services students:
  • Britanny Munch, of Frankfort-Schuyler.
  • Allison Shedd, of Central Valley.

Conservation student:
  • Allie Steffen, of Central Valley.

Criminal justice student:
  • Jianna Brown, of Little Falls.

Culinary students:
  • Alyssa Campione, of Little Falls.
  • Susan Doris, of Little Falls.

Health science careers student:
  • Kayley Bonificio, of Dolgeville.

Heavy equipment student:
  • Brady Streid, of Owen D. Young.

Information Technology Academy – business management student:
  • Roberta Roper, of Frankfort-Schuyler.

The ceremony was organized by Herkimer BOCES National Technical Honor Society advisor Kim Fragetta, the Herkimer BOCES child and family services instructor.

At the start of the ceremony, Shedd led “The Pledge of Allegiance,” Career and Technical Education Principal Kathy Fox welcomed guests and Campione spoke about the goal of the National Technical Honor Society. Assistant CTE Principal Sally Kramas then spoke about the purpose of the honor society.

A candle-lighting ceremony for the inductees next took place. Following that, Deavon Eysaman, a speech language pathologist who graduated from Ilion Central School District and what is now the Herkimer BOCES child and family services program, gave the keynote speech. Eysaman, who now works at Herkimer BOCES and Poland Central School District, shared her journey and some inspirational quotes and offered some words of advice.

The event concluded with the induction ceremony for the new members.
