Herkimer BOCES adult LPN students making career changes to become nurses
April 25, 2016

LPN students making career changes

The Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES adult practical nursing program recently recognized students who are making career changes to become licensed practical nurses through the Herkimer BOCES program.

Pictured above, from left to right: Jamie Defazio, of Troy, a pizzeria owner, who is in the part-time day class; Jason Nutt, of Herkimer, a full-time manufacturing worker, who is in the full-time class; and Amber Spinner, of St. Johnsville, a restaurant worker, who is in the full-time class.

These students serve as an example of many others who decide to do re-training through the LPN program, Herkimer BOCES nursing program Coordinator Sara Nicolette said.

“Many of our students come here with little or no experience or outside college,” Nicolette said. “We’re a self-contained program with everything they need.”

The application process and testing for the September 2016 full-time, part-time day and part-time evening classes have begun.
