Herkimer BOCES welding students benefit from practice
using stainless steel donated by Feldmeier Equipment

Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES welding students are using about $4,000 worth of stainless steel donated to the program by Feldmeier Equipment Inc. in Little Falls to practice welding for their certification tests.

Feldmeier could have decided to scrap the stainless steel drops to make a profit, but instead donated them to the welding program, and it’s much appreciated, Herkimer BOCES welding instructor Mason Fisher said.

The partnership between Herkimer BOCES and Feldmeier helps both – with many Herkimer BOCES welding graduates now working at Feldmeier – and the donated stainless steel is part of that, Fisher said.

“So our students can learn here before preparing to work there,” he said.

Current welding students Dakotah Redner, of Little Falls, and Corey Tucker, of Little Falls, are doing a work study program at Feldmeier.
