Richfield Springs superintendent search down to 6 candidates
Community forum scheduled for 6 p.m. March 22

March 11, 2016

The Richfield Springs Board of Education has narrowed the field of candidates to six in the search for the next superintendent of schools.

Board members are interviewing candidates the week of Monday, March 14, and then will select finalists, who will participate in full-day interviews on Tuesday, March 22, at the school district.

A community forum also has been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, in the cafeteria at the school. Members of the public will be able to ask the finalists questions during the forum.

“The board members believe we have selected a strong pool of candidates, and we look forward to hearing the public’s questions during the forum on March 22,” Richfield Springs Board of Education President Scot Mondore said. “We would like to thank the community for all of the helpful input during this selection process.”

Richfield Springs residents also participated in an online superintendent search survey to share their opinions on the experience, skills, dispositions and personal qualities they prefer, as well as other thoughts they have about finding the ideal superintendent candidate.

The school board reviewed the results of the survey. The results were used to inform the selection of the narrowed field of candidates and will be used to help shape the questions that will be asked during interviews.

Former Richfield Springs Superintendent Daniel Myers resigned effective Oct. 16, 2015. The Richfield Springs Board of Education contracted with Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent Mark Vivacqua to lead the superintendent search and conduct screening interviews with applicants.

Richfield Springs Interim Superintendent Cliff Moses will fill the position through the end of the superintendent search, with the new superintendent expected to start July 1, 2016.
