Herkimer BOCES students collect donations for Herkimer County Humane Society
Feb. 18, 2016

Students donating to Humane Society

Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES special programs teacher Jennifer Sabin's class recently held a donation drive for the Herkimer County Humane Society.

The class made posters and placed them around the special programs locations to request donations of items to benefit the Herkimer County Humane Society.

For a couple weeks, students learned through teaching, books and videos about caring for cats and dogs. The unit ended with a presentation from Ed View of the Herkimer County Humane Society.

During the presentation, students gave View the donations that were collected.

Additionally, special programs teacher Georgia Waite presented View with a check for $146 for the Humane Society from money that special programs students raised by selling dog biscuits they made during the culinary part of their class.

Pictured above, Sabin and her class pose with View and the items being donated to the Humane Society.

View also holds a poster for an upcoming Herkimer County Humane Society fundraiser: a murder mystery show by the ACME Mystery Co. on Saturday, March 26, at Francesca’s Banquets and Catering at 144 E. Main St. in Ilion.

The first act is at 7 p.m., dinner is at 8 p.m. and the second act is at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person or $90 for two people, and proceeds will benefit the Herkimer County Humane Society, which can be reached at 315-866-3255.
