Community invited to participate in
Mount Markham superintendent interview process

Sept. 8, 2015

Mount Markham Central School District Board of Education members are seeking community input as they undergo the process of selecting a new superintendent this month.

District residents will have two ways to participate in the superintendent search:
  • A committee of community volunteers will interview the finalists in the late afternoon on Sept. 16. To volunteer for the committee, contact Mount Markham District Clerk Mary Holmes at 315-822-2824 or mholmes@mmcsd.org.

  • All members of the community are invited to attend a community forum from 6-8 p.m. on Sept. 16 in Mount Markham’s high-school auditorium. After the finalists give brief introductions, they will take questions from the audience.
“The board considers feedback from our community members as an important piece in its decision making,” school board President Ronald Loiacono said. “We understand the community has a vested interested in who leads the district into the future, and we believe that residents will help us make the right choice.”

Former Mount Markham Superintendent Shawn Bissetta resigned in December 2014, and Interim Superintendent Robert Service has been leading the district since January 2015.

The Mount Markham Board of Education contracted with Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES District Superintendent Mark Vivacqua to lead the superintendent search.

Prior to Sept. 16, screening and initial interviews with the school board will have taken place to narrow the pool of candidates down to the finalists. Board of Education members expect to make an appointment by the beginning of October.
