Herkimer BOCES invites public to educational event:
'Addressing Today's Challenges within the Context of Emerging Trends'

Oct. 2, 2014

Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES invites the public to attend a program from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, about emerging trends and how schools need to change to meet future challenges.

Bill Daggett, chairman and founder of the International Center for Leadership in Education, will present “Addressing Today’s Challenges within the Context of Emerging Trends” during the program at the Hummel Center Amphitheater at Herkimer College.

During the presentation, Daggett will  talk about today’s challenges being so overwhelming that they have consumed the agenda of most schools and that equally as important, but often overlooked due to the magnitude of today’s pressures, are a series of emerging trends that will profoundly impact the future of our students, schools and education.  Daggett will describe these emerging trends and how we need to address today’s challenges within their context.

Herkimer BOCES is focusing this school year on making more connections between schools and local businesses through its new School to Careers program, so the hope is that local education and business officials attend the event, as well as the general public.

School to Careers – or STC for short – is a partnership developed by Herkimer BOCES among schools and businesses in the region with a goal of connecting students to jobs in the area through workshops, internships, partnerships and planning.
