Inaugural class of 33 students welcomed to VP-TECH
June 25, 2015

VP-TECH convocation

HERKIMER - Consider the Valley Pathways in Technology Early College High School officially launched.

On Thursday, June 11, the 33 students in the first class of VP-TECH were individually recognized at the Convocation Ceremony held at Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES.

Parents and family members, school district members and business partners were in attendance.

The guest speaker for the evening was Paul MacEnroe, president of Mohawk Valley Applied Technology Corp.
Alan Cronauer, associate dean for academic affairs at Herkimer College, gave the closing remarks and presented the students with their Herkimer College ID and college registration packet.

The first class of VP-TECH consists of 14 females and 19 males from all 10 of our component school districts.

This fall, students will begin in a collaborative classroom environment, modeled after Google workspaces. All academic content areas will be addressed through flexible scheduling and project-based learning.

This summer, VP-TECH students will have an opportunity to attend a summer bridge program at Herkimer College, where they will do some fun hands-on activities such as building a robot in addition to team-building exercises. The summer bridge program, which will run from July 13-17, will prepare students for the collaborative classroom environment they will enter in the fall.
